#MandelaDay: NPO hosts successful uniform drive at Avantè
The uniforms will be given to needy learners in different schools across Rand West City.
As part of their Mandela Day initiative, Semamotra Music and Entertainment hosted a successful uniform drive for learners across Randfontein.
The uniform drive was held at Avantè Primary School in Kocksoord where uniforms from various schools were donated. The Randfontein Herald spoke to the entertainment company’s co-founder, Kim Semenya who said that they have received a generous amount of donations.
“We decided to do this initiative to assist learners who do not have school uniforms. Not only were we targeting Grade Seven and Grade One learners as they’ll be going to new schools next year but are also targeting those from other grades who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“This is to ensure that they too look presentable when going to school with the uniform donated and that we alleviate the pressure from their parents,” said Kim, who added that she decided to have the uniform drive at Avantè because she lives in the area.
Her children also attend the school and she wanted to show them that charity begins at home and with those closest to you.
