The collision occurred just before 08:00 and the Herald was quick to attend the scene.

Upon arrival, three cars had visible damages on the front and rear bumpers.

Speaking to Marius Fortune from First Help Towing, the accident comes after one of the motorists’ tried to stop behind a taxi, which had made a sudden stop.

“The vehicles were travelling from the direction of Randgate towards the traffic light at the entrance of the mall when the incident occurred. We understand that a taxi stopped in front of the Ford Fiesta and the Fiesta somehow managed to stop in time. The Toyota Etios which was travelling behind the Fiesta also stopped in time to avoid a possible accident.

“Unfortunately that didn’t seem to help much, as the VW Polo which was travelling behind the Etios failed to stop in time and caused the multi-vehicle accident.

The driver of the VW Polo smashed into the Etios, which subsequently crashed into the Fiesta,” said Fortune.

He added that no injuries were sustained.
