From the outset, Fumo was on song with every opportunity at goal. They scored their first goal in less than a minute and netted their second in the 13th minute. The third goal came in the 58th minute in the second half. The game seem to suit the players from both teams amidst a wet field and not even the conditions stopped the players from displaying their craftsmanship of the game.

Rand West City MMC for Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation Nkovile Ndzipo hands over the Grest trophy to Fumo FC captain Sibusiso Mavuso.

“We are so grateful for the games to go on. This time we had 20 teams that took part and we could not discourage them from being part of our annual event. This shows the growth and interest of Grest. All over there are tournaments of this kind but it does prove that we have made a mark as the Local Organising Committee (LOC),” said Abe Montoedi, the Grest chairperson and founder.

“Throughout the years of our tournament existence this has become a social cohesion for our community, even the Randfontein SAPS do give us a testimony that the crime rate does not go to higher levels within our community. There are also economic spinoffs for local entrepreneurs who sell anything from fruits and sweets to food and so on,” said Abe who is also a police officer.
