Brandvlei shop targeted: R14 000 in cash and owner’s vehicle stolen

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security revealed several serious crime incidents in Rand West City for the period from March 20 to 26. One of which involved the robbery of R14 000 in cash at a shop in Brandvlei.

Three armed suspects entered a shop and demanded cash and the keys to the owner’s vehicle during an armed robbery in Brandvlei last week.

The security company’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen confirmed the incident took place at about 18:14 last Monday, March 20.

“The suspects fled with bottles of alcohol, an unknown number of cartons of cigarettes, R14 000 in cash, and the owner’s vehicle. No arrests have been made as yet.”

Vermeulen further revealed it was one of the six serious incidents in total that were reported to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Rand West City for the period Monday, March 20 to Sunday, March 26.

Details about other incidents:

1. Monday, March 20 at 06:29 – Damage to property in First Road, Hillside

Suspects gained entry into the premises and went on to cut the wires of the outside alarm beams. The suspects fled when the alarm sounded. No arrests were made.

2. Monday, March 20 at 22:26 – Damage to property in Stegman Street, Randgate

One suspect used a hammer to smash the shop windows but fled when the alarm sounded. No arrests were made.

3. Thursday, March 23 at 07:46 – Theft in Maroela Street, Greenhills

Suspects jumped over the perimeter wall and proceeded to steal three outside alarm beams. No arrests were made.

4. Friday, March 24 at 18:20 – Housebreaking and theft in Arabier Crescent, Greenhills

Suspects gained access to the premises and proceeded to force open the security gate and front door. The suspects then went on to steal two TVs, two laptops, and several items of clothing. No arrests were made.

5. Friday, March 24 at 14:52 – Housebreaking and theft in Hoepoe Street, Eikepark

Suspects gained entry through the main gate of the premises and forced the front security gate and door open. The suspects went on to steal one TV. No arrests were made.
