Still no trace of 13-year-old boy missing since April 2022

So far, no trace has been found of Oratile Kgaswane who disappeared on April 27 last year.

Brandvlei resident Jackie Kgaswane, the mother of missing 13-year-old Oratile, hasn’t lost hope.

Despite being missing since April 27 2022, Jackie has faith that her son will return home. He was a Grade 6 learner at Laerskool Rapportryer and will be turning 14 on April 5 this year.

Speaking to the Herald in a follow up interview Jackie Kgaswane said she cannot believe that it’s almost a year since her son went missing and added that she misses him each and every single day.

“His disappearance is so frustrating. It’s still horrible waking up and not having him around. There have been no leads in the case whatsoever and it has been extremely quiet.
“I truly miss him and I just want him to come back home. I want him here with us. I wish he could just come back and go to school just like any other child,” said Kgaswane who added that life has not been the same ever since, as she still has a lot of questions about his disappearance.

She added that the case has since been closed.

In a previous article ran by the Herald, Kgaswane said she last saw her son when she was leaving their home for work that morning.
At the time, Oratile was still in his pyjamas and was eating his breakfast while watching TV.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks had confirmed Kgaswane’s disappearance last year and said that a case of a missing person had been opened.

January this year marks 9 months since Oratile’s disappearance. The police and community members have searched for him with no luck.
