Drowning in Greenhills among eight serious incidents reported – Mapogo

A gardener drowned in a swimming pool in Greenhills in what was one of eight serious incidents reported to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Rand West City this past week.

A homeowner found their gardener at the bottom of the pool in Greenhills in one of eight incidents reported to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in the Rand West City for the period Monday, November 21 to Sunday, November 27.

The security company’s operations manager Ben Willemse explained the incident took place at 15:26 last Friday, November 25.

“Ambulance services were contacted and declared the gardener deceased due to drowning,” said Willemse.

Details about other incidents:

• Monday, November 21 at 00:08 – Attempted break-in in Union Street, Randgate:

Perpetrators broke the lock and chain on the main gate and proceeded to the back of the premises, when the alarm activated they fled the scene.

• Monday, November 21 at 01:29 – Business break-in and theft in Kenneth Road, Greenhills:

Perpetrators forced open the security gate and front door and stole a router and petty cash and fled the scene.

• Tuesday, November 22 at 14:40 – Attempted housebreaking in Thinus de Jongh Street, Greenhills:

Perpetrators broke the lock on the main gate to gain entry onto the premises and proceeded to the front door where they forced open the security gate – when the alarm activated they fled the scene.

• Thursday, November 24 at 08:18 – Malicious damage to property in Elandsvlei Plots:

Perpetrators cut the lock of the main gate without entering the premises and fled the scene.

• Friday, November 25 at 06:13 – Housebreaking and theft in Ventersdorp Road, Wilbotsdal:

Perpetrators climbed through an open window and stole a safe and a laptop from the premises and fled the scene.

• Friday, November 25 at 16:49 – Shoplifting in Union Street, Randgate:

A perpetrator stole a bottle of liquor and was caught by the staff and arrested for shoplifting.

• Sunday, November 27 at 00:59 – Theft in Harlem Street, Culemborgpark:

Perpetrators accessed the premises and stole a lawnmower and toolbox and fled the scene.
