Computer hardware company donates to Mohlakeng charity

The soup jars were donated by a computer hardware company and were packaged by staff members during its team-building event.

Computer hardware company HP South Africa gave back to the community by donating 56 soup jars to the Leano Foundation to help feed the hungry.

The handover was at the Ko Kolobeng Restaurant in Mohlakeng on Thursday, September 8.

The soup jars contained macaroni, stock cubes, lentils and soup mixes that will be used to make a delicious hot meal.

HP South Africa head of customer support Nazley Davies told the Herald that the soup jars were put together by their employees during a team-building event.

It is extremely important for us to take care of our people, our planet and the communities we live and work in. Whenever we do any event, we try by all means to incorporate all these elements and take care of the community, which is equally important to us.

“We recently had a team-building event with our staff members and that’s when the soup jars were packaged.

“Our team-building events are not just about employee wellness and having fun, they are also an opportunity for us to do good and take care of the community.

Some of the 56 soup jars donated to the Leano Foundation to help feed the needy.

“What better way to do this than have each one of us take a step towards making a difference in people’s lives,” said Davies, who added that the donations will help the Leano Foundation to continue to do good for its community.

Founder and Director of Leano Foundation Mapule Ratsoeu said they were happy to have received the donation.

We are very thankful for the soup jars because we always do soup kitchens, so such initiatives are right up our alley. They are going to be of great help to our beneficiaries who will be given the food jars individually to cook for themselves,” said Ratsoeu.

Leano Foundation is based in Mohlakeng and offers a helping hand to those in need, especially those between the ages of 12 and 29.
