Police interviewed on radio about crime awareness

The community was sensitised about crime patterns and trends that are rife in the surrounding areas and safety tips were given, among other.

The Kagiso police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya together with the Randfontein police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks were interviewed on Jozi FM on Tuesday June 28 during which they discussed crimes affecting the entire policing precinct.

Sergeant Hendricks said the community was sensitised about crime patterns and trends that are rife in the surrounding areas; the successes of members who excelled beyond the call of duty were highlighted; and safety tips were given.

Crimes that were discussed as a challenge in the district included hijackings, murders, gender-based violence and house robberies,” said Hendricks.

Sibiya reminded the community about their weekly intelligence-driven operations including Okae Molao, several rural operations, and clamping down on illegal mining.

They also mentioned that the police are supported by community patrollers as well as other community members in the areas.

“The Youth Desk was also introduced on Friday June 24 and the community was encouraged to come forward with any information that could assist the police.
