“Our principal Raymond Diedericks loves to reach out to the community, especially the SPCA that so selflessly does so much good in the community.”
Subsequently the school paid the RandWest SPCA Westonaria branch a visit on Friday, May 20 to hand over the donations collected at the school.

Our parents and learners were asked to contribute items such as blankets, toys, food and a cash, and we as school are also participating in the SPCA’s coin collection competition.”

“This project was really a way just to give a little back compared to the huge contribution they make in the community. We also encourage other schools to follow our example and reach out as the SPCA is in dire need of support. Without the community’s help they will not keep head above water. Also, please adopt, don’t shop,” said Sonia.

RandWest SPCA chairperson Brenda Eloff said their hearts were so grateful for the donation from the school.

All we as the RandWest SPCA can say is thank you because we so desperately needed the community’s help.

“Laerskool Gerrit Maritz Primary stepped in and donated a bakkie full of items ranging from blankets, food and toys as well as a cash amount to help with all of the challenges that we are currently facing. We can never thank you enough!” said Brenda, expressing her gratitude.

She added that without these contributions they would not survive.
