Various housebreakings and theft in Randfontein — Mapogo crime report

Mapogo officers arrested two perpetrators who attempted to steal a vehicle in the street. They were handed over to the police for further investigation.

It was a relatively busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said six incidents were reported for the period between Monday, May 9 and Sunday, May 15.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Monday, May 9 at 01:07 – Attempted theft of motor vehicle and arrest, Ewart Road, Homelake. Mapogo officers arrested two perpetrators who attempted to steal a vehicle in the street. They were handed over to the police for further investigation.

• Wednesday, May 11 at 02:36 – Attempted housebreaking, Homestead Avenue, Homelake. Perpetrators broke the lock from the main gate and then damaged alarm wires. When the alarm activated they fled the scene.

• Wednesday, May 11 at 11:50 – Housebreaking and theft, Crane Road, Greenhills. Perpetrators forced open the small gate to gain entry onto the premises. They proceeded to the front door where they forced open the gate, stole a television and laptop computer, and fled the scene.

• Friday, May 13 at 04:03 – Cable theft, Brandvlei Plots. Mapogo was alerted that perpetrators cut a fence and gained entry onto the premises where they stole cables and fled the scene.

• Friday, May 13 at 12:25 – Theft and arrest, Da Gama Street, Culemborg Park. Perpetrators attempted to steal items from several premises within the area and were spotted. Mapogo was alerted and an area search was conducted. One of the suspects was found with a stolen cellphone along Tulbach Avenue and was arrested. The suspect was identified by other residents as one of those whom they had seen on their properties. The suspect was handed over to the police for further investigation.

• Saturday, May 14 at 05:20 – Theft, Darter Road, Greenhills. Perpetrators entered the premises and stole a bicycle from the outside building.
