Three different forms of theft in second week of January – Mapogo

Mapogo released its latest crime report for the second week of the new year which showed three forms of theft in Greenhills, Homelake and the CBD respectively.

It was a relatively busy second week of the new year for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with numerous serious incidents being reported for their client base.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said these incidents were reported for the period between Monday, January 10 and Sunday, January 16.

A breakdown of the crime incidents:

• Monday, January 10 at 05:55 – Theft of a motor vehicle on Populier Avenue, Greenhills: During the evening, thugs entered the premises where they forced open the main gate and stole a Ford Ranger from the premises.

• Tuesday, January 11 at 10:16 – Cable theft and arrest on Freda Avenue, Homelake: Mapogo was alerted about someone busy stealing Telkom cables. Response units found the suspect on a roof, and he was cornered and arrested for cable theft. He was handed over to the police for further investigation.

• Thursday, January 14 at 23:50 – Housebreaking and theft on Park Street, Randfontein CBD: Intruders gained access to an ATM machine by cutting a hole in a roof.
