Captain De Beer always went above and beyond the call of duty. He was a guide to patrollers in the CBD, suburbs, plots and farms. We have lost a giant in the community. Rest well our dear Captain, you have served with excellence,” Gangat said.

Randfontein Police station commander, Brigadier Jacob Manamela said, “We really lost a committed and loyal officer who worked closely with the community of Randfontein. May God comfort the family and members. De Beer was like family to me. You woke him up at night and he would always avail himself to the community. This is a great loss to the police and the community.”

De Beer has been in the police service for 31 years and is survived by his wife, Liza and five sons.
