Massive accident on the N1 claims a life
Paramedic noticed a huge dust cloud in front of him and decided to pull over.
A man has died during a massive accident when an 18 wheel truck collided into the back of his BMW and dragged it for several metres on the Randfontein offramp from the N1 on 12 July.
According to ER24 Communications Manager Werner Vermaak, the accident was discovered by a paramedic going to work using the same route at approximately 6am.
“The paramedic was on his way to Johannesburg when he noticed a huge dust cloud in front of him and decided to pull over.
“Just seconds later, the dust settled and that is when he saw that a truck and a light duty vehicle had collided with each other.
“He rushed to the scene and upon arrival, the truck driver had sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene, but the driver of the BMW sustained fatal injuries,” says Vermaak.
Police officers at the scene say that investigations into the cause of the accident are currently underway.
