Rand West City begins decontaminating public spaces

A number of public places have been disinfected in Rand West City.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has partnered with the Scientology Volunteer Ministers (VMs) team to sanitize and disinfect public places in Rand West City last week to prevent cross-infection with the coronavirus.

According to Caroline Setsiba, RWCLM representative, so far, the Public Safety Department in Randfontein and Westonaria, the Rand West City Civic Centre, the Old Westonaria Municipal offices, Randgate Clinic, Westonaria Shelter for the homeless and the Westonaria Library have been disinfected.

“This is done so that when someone who may be carrying the virus and visits these public places, or when a surface is contaminated, others are not infected,” Setsiba said.

Adnaan Ndakayi of VMs said surfaces such as handles, including nooks and crannies where children tend to explore, are especially targeted during such operations.

“The product we are using is called Decon7 (Decontamination 7), which is the highest level of decontamination. It has natural cleaning and sanitizing power,” Ndakayi said.

Ndakayi added that the product penetrates and disarms toxins at molecular level, and has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
