Funds raised for day care

Motswalle Day Care Centre hosts fundraiser to give underprivileged kids a Christmas experience on 7 December.

Motswalle Day Care Centre in Hillside held a fundraiser at the Highway Bike and Car Wash on Saturday, 30 November.

According to Wilma Coetzee, deputy principal of the centre, the event sought to benefit the underprivileged children who normally are deprived of a Christmas experience. “Most of them do not even have the luxury of enjoying Christmas or receiving a Christmas gift. The funds raised will be used to host a Christmas lunch and hand over gifts to them on Saturday, 7 December.

“These are children whose parents cannot afford the average fees of a day care centre, but we work with the little money we have,” said Wilma. “We wanted to take them in and provide them with a safer environment where they can still get foundation-level education,” Wilma said.

Carla van Zyl, principal of the crèche added, “We became very committed to making sure that everything the children need is provided so that we did not have to ask the parents something they cannot afford. This is why we are making all efforts to get the money to host this Christmas function.

“Come 7 December they can enjoy a Christmas party. We will show them what is supposed to happen around this time of the year to bring them joy and happiness,” Carla said.

Carla also thanked those who supported the fundraiser on the day, and everyone who continues to support the crèche.

“We also want to thank the general public for showing support, because had it not been for you, our day care would not have opened its doors to many children who are in need, neither host this day,” Carla added.
