An 18-year-old male youth was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Bekkersdal on Thursday, 5 September.
According to the police, the youngster was arrested following a tip-off.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said he is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.
Colonel Tinus Swart, the Bekkersdal Police station commander praised the community for acting proactively to secure the arrest.
“One unlicensed firearm left in the community is one too many. Let us join hands in the fight against crime,” he said.
