#ThrowbackThursday – 21 August 1987

The Herald goes back, way back, to 21 August 1987, for this week’s #ThrowbackThursday.

It’s #ThrowbackThursday and the Herald went back in time to 21 August 1987 to see what was in the news.

On the front page the Herald reported on the Miss Randfontein contest with headline Will you be Miss Randfontein 1987? In the photo was Kim Ellis, one of the entrants of the Miss Randfontein 1986 contest. The Herald encouraged women to enter as there were only three weeks left until entries were to close.

To catch up on the topic, the Herald met with the reigning Mrs Randfontein, Leonie Pretorius, to tell us what she has been up to since being crowned in June this year.

Leonie said she does not only get to pose for pictures. She also rolls up her sleeves and helps those who are in need.

Other news that made headlines at the time includes:

Greenhills Dance Studio claimed that they could help you shed a kilo or two.
A campaign by Radio 702 to help customers with complaints that was featured in the Herald.
