Man busted after robbing and stabbing an acquaintance

A 28-year-old man from Spooktown has been charged with robbery and assault after he attacked a victim who knew him.

A 28-year-old man from Spooktown is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on charges of robbery and assault after he allegedly attacked an acquaintance for not having money on him.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said that the incident took place on Sunday, 10 March at approximately 7pm.

“It is alleged that the victim was walking down a street in Spooktown when he came across the suspect whose identity is known to him. He said that the suspect stopped him and started searching him without saying anything,” Lefakane said.

According to her, the victim told the suspect he did not have money.

“When the suspect could not find anything on the victim, he took a knife and stabbed him in his right hand. The victim was taken to hospital and later reported the matter to the police.

“The matter was assigned to Constable Naniki Thabane who arrested the suspect on 13 March. He is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon,” Lefakane concluded.
