R’fontein child found in Grasmere after hijacking

Randfontein child, aged three, found over 40kms from home in an abandoned hijacked vehicle earlier today.

A three-year-old boy from Randfontein was found unhurt but visibly shaken in an abandoned hijacked vehicle more than 40km away from home early on the morning of Tuesday, 12 March.

According to Russel Meiring, the ER24 spokesperson, the father said that they were hijacked in the Randfontein area earlier.

“ER24 paramedics were dispatched to the Grasmere area at about 9.45am, after the local authorities found an abandoned vehicle on a dirt road.

On arrival, local authorities found a three-year-old boy still inside the vehicle. 

“We assessed the boy who was in the custody of the police. Fortunately, the child had escaped injury although he was visibly shaken. After the assessment, paramedics handed the child over to his father, who was by this time on scene.”

Local authorities will be investigating this matter further.
