According to Alleta Opperman, Desiré’s sister, she has been missing since early January and is believed to be in the Randfontein or Krugersdorp area.

“She is tall and thin with dark hair and has her 12-year-old daughter with her,” Alleta told the Herald.

Desiré also goes by her maiden surname, De Villiers as well as Vickers, her surname from a previous marriage, Aletta added.

“We haven’t heard from her since her birthday in January and she doesn’t answer her phone. She used to live with me in East London and moved to Mpumalanga when she got a job there in 2017. She met a man in Mpumalanga and we had frequent contact, but suddenly she is silent. Our whole family congratulated her on her birthday on Facebook in January, and she liked it and thanked us, but there was no further communication,” Alleta said.

“We saw on Facebook that she posted something on a Facebook group for Randfontein and Krugersdorp so we suspect that she lives in the area. We just want to know if she’s okay. We hope someone who knows her can give the message to her.”

Alleta also said that her mother often calls her in tears because she misses her child.

“We are so worried about my sister and her daughter. She has a big, caring heart and I know she would do anything for her daughter, but we can’t stop worrying about her.”

If anyone knows Desiré or her whereabouts, please contact Alleta via Whatsapp to 061 046 3170.
