Taxi rolls leaving 16 injured, including toddler

Child aged 2 among 16 injured after taxi rolled in Carletonville three days ago.

Sixteen people were injured, a 2-year-old child seriously, following a single taxi rollover on the R501 near Carletonville on Wednesday night, 27 December.

Ineke van Huyssteen, ER24 spokesperson said ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 8pm where they found another medical service already in attendance.

“Upon further assessment, paramedics found that most of the patients were seated at the scene. Paramedics also found a 2-year-old girl seated in her mother’s lap.

Paramedics found that the little girl sustained serious injuries and she was airlifted to hospital by medical helicopter for further medical care.

“Fifteen others sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to hospital by ER24 and various other medical services on the scene.”

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene.
