#MunicipalMonday: R’fontein taxpayers still unhappy

For this week’s #MunicipalMonday, the Herald spoke to Frans le Grange of the Tax-Payers' Association who said the municipality must get its act together.

Randfontein tax-payers continue to be unhappy with the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM), after countless pleas to fix the town and improve services continue to fall on deaf ears.

Speaking to the Herald on Monday afternoon, 3 September, Frans le Grange of the Randfontein Tax Payers’ Association said public meetings held recently have so far not yielded any results.

Frans said many officials of the municipality are getting their salaries, but residents continue to be unhappy about the services they are deprived of.

“We as tax-payers are totally unhappy with the state of this town. All we want is just for the municipality to look after our town, keep our parks clean, take care of the leaking sewage, and maintain the pavements and the roads,” Frans said.

He said it is very important for the people of Randfontein to be proud of their town,”Because we are invested here, we are running our businesses here, we have our houses here, and all we need is for the municipality to do its work,” Frans concluded.
