It will cost a total of R35 000 to repair the damage done to Jeanine Viljoen’s property in Middelvlei after a vehicle crashed into the wall around it during the weekend.
The Herald reported on Monday, 30 July that five people were left injured when a light motor vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a wall off the R559 in Randfontein on the morning of Saturday, 28 July.

Although local authorities were on the scene for further investigations and to determine the exact cause of the accident, it is alleged the driver was attempting to overtake another vehicle.

Viljoen said the vehicle was 53 metres into her yard and that the accident traumatised the children who were also on the property.

“The car almost hit my son and the other children, crashed into my garden, took out the wall and damaged a number of things on my property.”
Viljoen also said there were four women and a child in the car.
“I tried to open a case to claim from the insurance but I was told that there is no case. I was not helped at all,” Viljoen said.
Viljoen went on to allege that there was alcohol in the car, and that it is now in her possession.
Celeste Visser, who owns a property nearby, said, “We heard some screams, and we heard something crashing and banging.”
Visser said luckily the ten children who were playing on the grounds had gone to play with the horses, which took them out of the path of the car; however, it came very close to running some of them down.
