Garage in CBD targeted by armed robbers

A 40-year-old cashier at a garage on Main Reef Road in the CBD became the victim of an armed robbery that took place at 8.10pm on Monday, 7 May, local police said.

It is alleged by the victim that she was in the shop when a silver grey Audi A4 pulled up outside. One man came into the shop and bought an air-time voucher.

“The complainant was then allegedly told that they wanted money. A second man then approached and instructed her, at gunpoint, to open the cash register,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

Cash and cigarettes were taken and the suspects then drove off.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
