VIDEO: What R’fontein had to say about Easter

'Teiners tell us how they celebrate Easter.

With many South Africans across the country celebrating Easter, the Herald took to the streets to find out from the locals what they love doing during this time of the year.

Lebo Ngobeni, 32, whose birthday coincides with Easter this year, said her family will come together to celebrate both her birthday and Easter.

Neville Stofberg, his wife Lindie, and the family will be going to Polokwane this Easter.

“I just want to be home with my children and my family. As a family we will just be grabbing a bite to eat and stay home to celebrate the day because Easter time is very special for us. Later in the day, we will go out on a picnic,” Lebo said.

Lindie and Neville Stofberg of Randfontein are in Polokwane for the weekend.

“We will be going there as a family to enjoy this special time. What we’ll appreciate most about Easter is the egg hunts for the kids,” the couple said.

Charles Schemel, also of Randfontein, said: “We are going to be celebrating Easter by going camping this year”.

Charles said the most important thing for everyone is to ensure that they are safe during this time. He said people should also make sure that they are safe on the roads.

“I wish that people who have not had the privilege of enjoying Easter in the past will enjoy it this year,” he added.

Vusi Khumalo of Randfontein said: “When it comes to Easter, we simply keep it simple. What we do is just invite our neighbours for a small braai and drinks. We believe Easter is a time for us as family to just be at home and make the most of the time with the loved ones. This is a family tradition we have been practicing for years.”
