Tuck shop heist: Four arrested

Four arrested by the Bekkersdal Police for breaking into a local tuck shop and stealing an undisclosed number of airtime vouchers and cigarettes.

Four suspects who targeted a tuck shop and stole an undisclosed number of airtime vouchers as well as cigarettes with the purpose of sell them, have been caught.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said the incident happened at about 11pm on Wednesday, 11 October at the Tambo Section in Bekkersdal.

“It is alleged the owner received a phone call from one of his employees who informed him about the break-in at his tuck shop. He found that the burglars had entered the shop through the roof.

“A case of business burglary was registered with the Bekkersdal Police. Through information received from the community the suspects were traced and arrested after being seen selling cigarettes and airtime vouchers in the informal settlement,” she said.

Colonel Abraham Nkhwashu, Bekkersdal Police station commander applauded the members for a job well done, and thanked the community for the information that had led to the arrest.
