One killed, two critical after vehicle rolls

One person killed, two others critically injured when vehicle rolled on the R501 Welverdiend Road over the weekend.

One person died while two others sustained critical injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in rolled several times on the R501 Welverdiend Road in Carletonville on Sunday (3 September).

Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson said paramedics from ER24 and local emergency services arrived on scene at about 8.30am.

“All three male occupants had been ejected from the vehicle and were in a critical condition. The ER24 Oneplan Medical Helicopter and a second helicopter were called to the scene to airlift two of the critically injured patients to hospital.

“One of the men sadly succumbed to his injuries while paramedics were loading him into the helicopter. Despite their efforts to revive him, there was nothing more paramedics could do.

The other two men were placed on life support after which one was airlifted by the second medical helicopter and another transported by road to a nearby hospital.”

Local authorities were on scene and will investigate the exact circumstance surrounding the incident.
