Brandvlei Primary gets free sanitary towels

Brandvlei learners get sanitary towel donation.

Randgate Spar and Aranda Textiles, in conjunction with Reverend Paul Molefe, reached out to the girl learners and teachers at Brandvlei Primary School on Wednesday, 30 August.

Reverend Molefe is from the Anglican Church in Carletonville. He feels that a church is not between four walls, but should be out there, helping people and supporting them.

Randgate Spar staff handed over three packets of sanitary towels to each learner.

“Jesus always worked with the poor. We as a community and church should reach out to the poor on the farms and smallholdings, not just in town,” he said. This initiative is part of the church’s Outreach Programmes.

Principal Sandile Mbili, who has been at the school since 2014 said there are about 782 learners in the school.

“We are very thankful for this extremely kind gesture”, he said. “A lot of the girls stay home, because they do not have sanitary towels.”

A number of the teachers received shawls from Aranda Textiles, while about 50 girls each received three packs of sanitary towels from Randgate Spar.

Reverend Paul Molefe from the Anglican Church in Carletonville, Principal Sandile Mbili, and Suzi Deyzel, Supervisor at Spar Randgate.

The Herald asked Bianca Oelofse, a Randgate Spar employee, how she feels about this programme. She said it is an awesome gesture, because now the girls do not have to miss classes because of a lack of sanitary towels.

Robert Farinha, the owner of Randgate Spar, and the management of Aranda Textiles were both thanked by Principal Mbili and Reverend Molefe for their generous gestures.
