Gunmen rob store with customers inside

The suspects then fled in a getaway vehicle that was parked next to the shop.

At 4.45 pm on Wednesday, 9 August, two suspects robbed a foreign national business at gunpoint in Khomo-ea-hlaba Street.

The Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects.

It is alleged that the victim was busy assisting customers when the two males entered the shop.

“They allegedly pointed firearms at the owner and ordered everyone inside the store to lie down,” said Constable Linkie Lefakane, the spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police.

They took cigarettes, airtime, cellular phones and an undisclosed amount of money from the shop and the customers. They then fled in a getaway vehicle that was parked next to the shop.

The police were called and a case of business robbery was registered.” The suspects are still on the run,” Lefakane said further.

The police are appealing to the community to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of these perpetrators, and also warn the community not to try to apprehend them as they are armed and deemed to be dangerous.
