Quinton aims to be the best

Quinton trains seven days a week for three hours a day for him to be the best in his field.

Wanting to become a household name in the sport he practises, 27-year-old Greenhills resident Quinton Rossouw, allows nothing to stand in his way.

Quinton is part of the Mile High Kickboxing Club. He eats, sleeps and lives in the ring and is training to be the best.

He is currently competing in Shidokan karate, kickboxing, wrestling, Ju-jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and cage fighting, to name but a few.

Quinton fell in love with wrestling at a young age, but when Shian Henk Pelser, owner of Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan, saw potential in him, things changed.

Quinton’s first fight was a MMA fight approximately two years ago and since then he has let nothing get in his way. He has fought all over South Africa and in October 2016, he visited New York to fight there as well.

Quinton trains seven days a week for three hours a day for him to be the best in his field. “I train in the morning from 4am until 5am and then again from 6pm until 8pm at night,” said Quinton.

The highlight of his career was when he fought in The Last Fighter Standing Competition in October 2016. The winning prize was R200 000, but Quinton lost against his opponent by only one point.

This year he plans to go to New York for approximately four months to compete in the Tap-out Promotion. After he has made his mark he plans to move to America, to train and fight there and eventually become a world class fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championships.

“For you to become the best fighter, you need to be fit and have the mindset of a real fighter,” said Quinton.
