JUST IN: Armed robbers hit new mall

An unknown number of suspects allegedly targeted a pharmacy at the new Tambotie Mall earlier this morning.

A major pharmacy at the new Tambotie Mall was targeted by alleged armed robbers earlier this morning (Friday, 7 July). At this stage it is unknown how many of them broke into the pharmacy.

Although police are yet to release a formal statement, the Herald heard at the scene that several people were allegedly tied up in the hallway of the mall. The armed robbers then broke into the pharmacy and stole goods.

The Randfontein Police Trio Task Team was on the scene when the Herald arrived, therefore the journalist could not get comment from the management of the pharmacy as the police were still in the store looking for evidence and investigating.

No injuries were reported but it’s said many were traumatised by the incident.

The Herald spoke to one of the car guards who alleged that he had seen four suspicious-looking vehicles with occupants entering the mall on Thursday. This is yet to be confirmed.

When the Herald left the scene the police were still investigating.
