2017 Comrades: Frans – Rand West City’s best finisher

Toekies, Mohlakeng, W'aria well represented at Comrades. Here's how they did ...

Athletes from Toekomsrus, Mohlakeng and Westonaria also joined the masses at this year’s Comrades Marathon, with Frans Mola from Simunye representing South Deep Athletics Club in Westonaria. He was the first Rand West City athlete to finish the race.

Frans was in the leading pack in the early stages of the race. With him were Peter Muso, Simon Mokwena and Lekhelebane Tsietsi all from Mohlakeng’s Colossus Athletics Club, as well as veteran Butiki Jantjies.

Peter finished in a time of 6:23, Lekhelebane in 6:43, Simon in seven hours flat, and Joseph Mabodla in 7:23. Andrew Vusi Mathiya, Mohlakeng’s Colossus Athletics Club chairman and aerobics fitness trainer finished in a time of 9:54, Davis Mothelesi in 9:58 and Andrew Louw from Toekomsrus narrowly beat the 12-hour cut-off time, finishing in 10:45.
