Woman caught with R2 500 worth of dagga

Police arrested the woman while conducting routine crime prevention duties.

The Bekkersdal Police arrested a 32-year-old woman for being in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R2 500.

The woman was located in Simunye Extension 4, Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police’s spokesperson said.

The station’s officers were conducting their routine crime prevention duties in the area when they received information regarding a woman selling dagga.

When they went to the address supplied, they found a woman who met the description given.

The officers requested permission to search her premises. She agreed, and while going through her things they found dagga in a baby formula container. They found more dagga under her bed in a navy blue suitcase.

“The officers found more dagga wrapped in small and medium packages,” Lefakane said.

The woman was subsequently arrested for being in possession of dagga. She is expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court today, 29 May.

“The community should continue giving us information as these drugs are killing our own children,” Colonel Mbangwa Nkhwashu, station commander of the Bekkersdal Police said.
