100 Enduro Bike and Quad races steal the limelight

This event catered for riders of all abilities.

On Saturday, 6 May, another action-packed 100 Enduro Quad and Bike competition was held by Chris Schoeman.

There were two 100 kilometre events, both consisting of an 18,5km loop, incorporating fast straight farmland sections, free-flowing veld sections, ‘vasbyt’ veld sections, some rocky technical terrain and a 2,8km semi-technical route.

This event catered for riders of all abilities, with the quads and bikes in separate events. It was a fun get-together, and not a sanctioned race.

The categories were: Open class, Novice class, Master class (over 40 years of age), Women’s class, Juniors (U/16) and Youngsters (U/13) 40 kilometres.

Proud trophy winners after a day packed with action.

Prizes consisting of trophies and gold medals were handed to the category winners after the races. Silver medals were awarded for second and third places in each category. Bronze medals went to all who finished the 100 kilometres within the three-hour time limit.

In the Bike Open 100 class, Jaco Naude took first place, Andre Jansen van Rensburg came in second and Jay-Jay Badenhorst came in third. In the Novice class, Tommie Mans came first, Dean de Beer was second and Kyle Potgieter was third. In the Master class, Francois de Beer was first, Albert du Plessis came second, and Neal Rodwell took the third place. Then, in the Grand Masters class, George Scheepers (Snr) came first, Johnny von Eichstedt came second and Patrick Liebenberg came third.

In the Ladies class, Este Burns took first place, Nikki Spurgeon came in second and Daryl-Leigh Preuss came in third. In the Junior class, Jaundré Naudé was first, John Botha second, and Wian van der Merwe third. The little ones showed what they had in the Youngsters class, where Jacques Naudé came first, with Aubrey Naudé second, and Xander Vogel third.

In the 100 Four-wheeler division, Russel Ferreira came first, Deon Hefer second and George Oosthuizen third in the Open class. In the Novice class, Gerhard du Pasquale took first place, and Leo Gordon second place. Master class first place went to Hans Bothma, with Ernest Coetzee in second place. First in the Ladies class was Brenda Koekemoer, with Erna Nienaber in second place, and Juanitha van Schalkwyk in third place.

It was an action-packed day and a huge success, with everybody enjoying the races to the fullest.
