#ThrowBackThursday: ‘Happy birthday, Zuma’ – DA R’fontein

Last Friday's #AntiZumaMarches came to Randfontein yesterday. Watch video here:

Members of the Randfontein Democratic Alliance (DA) took to the R28 on President Jacob Zuma’s birthday to have their own version of the #AntiZumaMarches.

A small number of DA members were seen at the Uncle Harry’s intersection holding up placards which read, “Fire Zuma,” on Wednesday, 12 April.

The number of protesters grew as time went by, to specifically target motorists during peak traffic at the intersection.

A striking number of motorists either showed the protesters a thumbs-up or hooted in support of Zuma being impeached. “I mean, if this is the response we’re getting from people by randomly standing here, it says a lot. It says people have had enough of the state of current affairs in South Africa, especially regarding Zuma,” Peter Dick, DA Ward 9 councillor said.

When the Herald arrived on scene, DA members were singing, dancing and blowing whistles to attract attention to their cause.

A bus carrying a group of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters drove past the protest, with many people hanging out of windows with their own placards, uniting the two parties in their lack of confidence in Zuma.

This was not the DA’s last protest – they took to the Kenneth Road/ Homestead Avenue intersection early this morning, Thursday, 13 April, to show their dissatisfaction with Zuma once again.
