He attained nine distinctions at school level and another two in the two additional external subjects he took in his matric year, bringing his total number of distinctions to eleven.

According to his father, he is the third learner at Riebeeckrand to achieve admiral’s colours. During his schooling career, Johan played and dominated in any sport he found interesting.

Not only did he dominate in academia and sports, he also gave cultural activities his all. He participated and dominated in debating.

His mother, Ansie, who currently also works at the animal hospital, said he spoke about becoming a veterinarian from an early age. She explained that when he was in Grade 5 he drew up a business plan in his Economics and Management Science (EMS) class for running his own veterinary practice.

Later, when he was in matric, he requested permission to make a speech and left his classmates with the words that he will return to Randfontein as Dr Naudé.

Nine years later, after seven years of studies and two additional years working at various practices to gain experience, he has returned to work with his father and eventually take over the family business.

Johan said his love of animals originated from visiting the animal hospital with his father every year.

He said it feels good to be back home and is excited about making a difference in the community. He is bringing his new school of thought into the practice, and will couple it with his father’s old school ways.
