Do you know anything? Police investigating explosion at bakery in Aureus.

The Randfontein Police are investigating an explosion that occurred at a bakery in Aureus earlier this week.

The investigation was launched after an alarm went off at the business premises.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police’s spokesperson, on Sunday, 15 January, a local security company investigated and later informed the 61-year-old owner of the business, who found the safe had been damaged by explosives. She said the door was found approximately 30 metres from the safe.

“[A] detonation cord was also found on the scene. Nothing was stolen from the safe since it was not in use,” Ernst said. She added that no injuries were sustained as a result of the explosion, the only damages were to the safe and the structure around it.

The police are now investigating the matter and call on anyone with more information to report it to them on the Crime Stop number – 0860 10111.
