Burglar gets 10-year prison sentence

Burglar involved in vicious house robbery two years ago sentenced to 10 years.

Gabriel Joseph Mbonze, 33, has been found guilty of house robbery and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in the Randfontein Regional Court recently.

Mbonze was one of two suspects who targeted a house on Dikeme Street, Mohlakeng on 23 September 2015.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson said two suspects, including Mbonze, took computer equipment and other valuables. They then fled the scene but left some of the stolen goods behind. A 22-year-old victim also was pointed at with a firearm and tied up.

Warrant Officer Bongani Mpeteis was applauded for his investigation and successful conclusion of this case.

The Randfontein Police management also congratulate the members of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Magistrate Ettienne van Niekerk and the Prosecutor, Johannes Makhubela for their commitment to these cases.
