Kickboxing club triumphs over the rest

Three athletes from the Mile High Kickboxing Club receive gold in Johannesburg.

Recently, three athletes from the Mile High Kickboxing Club returned home as gold medalists, having participated in the Brad Block event for charity in Bramley, Johannesburg.

During this event all three athletes triumphed over their opponents. These athletes were none other than Joaquim Mouton, Quinton Rossouw and Chris Pieterse.

Joaquim Mouton won by knockout in the second round in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) light-weight division. Chris Pieterse took home the victory in the middle-weight division after his opponent received a technical knockout (TKO) in one minute. And in the heavy-weight division, Quinton Rossouw triumphed over his opponent after he won with a ‘necked choke’ during the first round.

“We went through a hard month of training. We wanted to sift through the athletes to get the best of the best for this event. I only expect more great things from them,” Shihan Henk Pelser said.

Next Saturday, Quinton will compete in the Last Fighter Standing all-styles world championships at the Ticketpro Dome.

“We worked very hard to have made it this far and I am confident in the club’s capability to perform. I am also thrilled about my performance and I am looking forward to participating in the World Championships next week,” Quinton said.
