Housekeeper held at gunpoint

Justice for housekeeper held at gunpoint, dragged and locked in a bathroom.

Two notorious young house robbers aged between 25 and 29 were convicted for a house robbery earlier this year.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the suspects, Mbulelo Mjiva, 25, notoriously known as Bobsave and Morake Lesuthu, 29, were sentenced last Thursday (29 September).

Lefakane added the incident took place at about 8.30pm on Wednesday, 27 January. She further indicated the two suspects struck when the couple living at the home left for town, leaving their house keeper to keep an eye on the premises.

The suspects allegedly entered the house and pointed a firearm at the house keeper and later dragged and locked her in the bathroom. Lefakane said the two suspects took sports and casual shoes, cellphones, a laptop and later fled the scene.

“The neighbours alerted the owner and a case was reported to the police,” Lefakane said.

Through a thorough investigation by the Bekkersdal Police, Lesuthu was arrested by Detective Constable Tshepo Mashala who also recovered most of the stolen goods.

Detective Sergeant Mavis Oageng, another of Bekkersdal’s finest, arrested Mjiva. Oageng is said to have worked tirelessly to make sure both suspects receive a sufficient sentences.

Lesuthu was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and Mjiva was sentenced to 12. Both were convicted for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

“The investigating officer Detective Sergeant Mavis Oageng was very pleased with the sentence,” Lefakane said.
