Young man killed during argument

Man, 28, stabbed, killed during argument.

A 28-year-old man was killed after an argument turned violent in Zenzele, near Mohlakeng, on Sunday, 2 October.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, it is alleged that the 28-year-old man was killed in the area after having an argument with the suspect.

“An argument became violent and the suspect stabbed the victim. The victim was rushed to Mohlakeng Clinic but was declared dead on arrival,” Ernst said.

She added that the motive for the stabbing is currently unknown and the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident occurred.

This is the second murder in one month in the area. The last murder reported on in the area by the Herald was that of a 55-year-old woman, who was allegedly shot by her own son, also following an argument.

These murders come shortly after the national crime statistics for 2016, which indicate that murder has gone up by 43,2 per cent in Randfontein alone, were released.

This is not the only tragedy to hit Mohlakeng this weekend. Ernst also confirmed a car collided with two pedestrians on 1 October on the infamous R28, which has claimed so many lives. Ernst said two men were hit and killed by a vehicle, and a case of culpable homicide is currently being investigated.
