One of three suspects in possession of a stolen vehicle has been caught after police gave chase on foot.
According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, their Sector Police were conducting their usual crime prevention duties on Tuesday, 13 September at approximately 4.10am, when they spotted suspicious activity.
She said the officers spotted a suspicious vehicle parked on Mosidi Street, Bekkersdal. Next to the vehicle were three men – two working on the vehicle and one standing guard.
As the police approached them, they fled on foot. Police managed to catch one of them, a case of being in possession of a stolen vehicle was opened, and the suspect was charged.
He made a brief appearance in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 14 September.
