A child allegedly being kidnapped and raped was just one of the five serious crimes reported by security company EPR on the last day of August.
According to an EPR crime report for Wednesday, 31 August, there were five incidents of crime in Rand West City. Four occurred in the Randfontein section and one in the Westonaria section.
Randfontein:
• Rape – Ten Acres
• Fire – Aureus
• Assault – Randpoort
• Trespassing – Wilbotsdal
Westonaria:
• Theft – Davies Street, Westonaria
According to the report, in the case of the alleged Randfontein rape, a client heard a child crying and later saw the child in front of a worker’s room. The client thought it might have been a trap laid by suspects and called EPR. Once on scene, EPR found that the child had allegedly been kidnapped and raped. EPR said the police are currently investigating the matter.
The fire occurred at a substation in Fedler Street, Aureus at about 1.03pm, with an alleged assault taking place in a client’s yard in Randpoort nine minutes later. The trespassing case allegedly took place in Willem Street, Wilbotsdal, in the early hours of the morning, at about 3.52am, when a man was caught lurking between two motor vehicles. The suspect was handed over to local police.
In Westonaria, an alleged theft took place at about 6.39am in Davies Street. Lights were allegedly stolen from the premises on which the panic signal was activated.
