Man dies while trapped in car after crash

'The cause of the collision is not yet known'

A man, 30, died while trapped in his vehicle after it collided with a truck on the R501 just 3km outside of Carletonville over the weekend.

The crash took place in the early hours of Saturday morning (30 July). According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, paramedics arrived on scene at approximately 1.30am.

Upon arrival, paramedics found a wrecked light motor vehicle on the side of the road and a truck parked nearby.

In the light motor vehicle, paramedics found the lifeless body of a man lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle. “Rescue services had to later use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the deceased from the vehicle,” Meiring explained.

He added that the truck driver was found to have no injuries.

“The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” Meiring said.
