Elderly couple targeted outside home, man shot twice

ER24: The victim was shot twice after an apparent scuffle between him and the gunmen.

An elderly man had to be airlifted to a private hospital and is in a critical condition after being shot outside his home in an alleged attempted hijacking in Westonaria today (Thursday 21 July).

On arrival at the scene, ER24 paramedics and members of the Westonaria Police found the man seated in his driveway with his wife.

After assessing the patient, paramedics found that he had sustained two gunshot wounds to his abdomen. The man was in a critical condition and needed to be transported to a hospital immediately.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, “It is believed two men approached the elderly man in front of his house and after an apparent scuffle between the three of them, the elderly man was shot twice.”

Westonaria Police were unavailable for immediate comment.
