Four accused stood before packed courtroom

Case has been postponed to 30 June.

It was another tense day in court following the arrest of a brother and sister, who have also been charged with the murders of three Krugersdorp residents in May.

The siblings joined the two males who were arrested earlier in June for the murders of Anthony Scholefield, Kevin McAlpine and Hanle Lategan.

All four accused stood with their hands behind their backs in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court, facing Schedule 6 charges. The two men, aged 28 and 32, were appearing for the third time for a formal bail application, while the siblings were making their first appearance.

The state opposed bail for the 20-year-old male and his 18-year-old sister, asking for the case to be postponed to 30 June.

Advocate Da Silva, for the defence, asked for an opportunity to consult with his clients, especially the accused siblings.

The hearing, held in a packed courtroom, was adjourned after the matter was again postponed, this time to 30 June.
