Calling all West Rand musicians

Youth Day event to give local talent exposure.

Westonaria’s youth are planning a big Youth Day Celebration and want to promote local acts in the process.

Two young men from Westonaria, named Lesedi Buti and Dumisani Radebe, have their hearts in the right place and want to make a difference in the community of Westonaria and Randfontein.

The pair are from a group called Eccentric Generation XX Oddity (EGNXXO) and perform music from any and every genre. They also produce their own beats and record their own music.

They are planning a Hip-hop music event to expose West Rand’s many talented musicians. They have previously tried to organise an event but were unable to make it happen due to a lack of sponsors.

“It’s difficult, but we won’t be discouraged. This just makes us want to pick ourselves back up and try again. The main issue we have is sponsors.

The event we’re planning is both to give local acts exposure but also to fundraise for our community project called Dream Foundation.

“We want to make a difference in our community,” Lesedi said.

So far the two have managed to secure a venue for the event. This was given to them for the day, free of charge, by the Westonaria Local Municipality.

Lesedi and Dumisani are calling on musicians from Randfontein, especially those who otherwise would not have any exposure, to perform at their event.

Event details:
• Date: June 16
• Time: 11am to 4pm
• Venue: Westonaria Banquet Hall.
