Tshepo Silasi, 33, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of the murder of Tokologo Mazuntu Kobe by the Randfontein Regional Court.
Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, said Kobe was murdered on 20 December 2014 in Zenzele, when he was stabbed in the neck.
The suspect, Silasi, was arrested shortly after the incident occurred. He was found guilty of the murder of Kobe and has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
“This case was previously investigated by Warrant Officer Karen Nel, who prepared the case for court. Warrant Officer Nel resigned in February this year, and the case was taken over by Warrant Officer Santie Le Roux-Laufs, who saw it through trial.
“Randfontein Police management wishes to congratulate both officers on their sterling work in preparing and concluding the case,” Ernst said.
