UPDATE: Fundraiser for boy with deadly condition

Help a family pay for their son's medical bills.

The Toekies family of young Raveen Dollie, who has developed a rare and deadly syndrome, is going to hold a fundraiser in an attempt to cover his medical bills.

The fundraiser will take place in Toekomsrus. There will be a car-wash, DJs, a “show and shine”, in which car owners will show off their vehicles and sound systems, bikers, soccer and food stalls.

Raveen Dollie, 4, nearly drowned in 2013 and began having seizures shortly afterwards. His health recently took a turn for the worst, and Raveen’s pediatrician had to prescribe more medication to help curb his seizures.

This nearly spelled disaster for Raveen – after taking the new medication, he developed blisters all over his body, and his eyes swelled up alarmingly.

Doctors were initially puzzled by his symptoms, but Raveen was eventually diagnosed with Steven Johnson Syndrome which is a rare and deadly syndrome.

According to Shahida, Raveen’s mother, the syndrome results from a deadly allergic reaction to any type of medication.

Fundraiser details:
• Venue: Toekomsrus Stadium
• Date: Saturday, 28 May
• Time: 11am
