2016 Tekkie Tax day on its way

So, Randfontein, choose your sticker, wear your T-shirt and show us your funky shoe-laces!

National Tekkie Tax day is on Friday, 27 May this year, and many non-profit organisations (NPOs) in Randfontein are working hard to make the day a huge success.

Tekkie Tax day is an annual fundraising project that raises funds for charity organisations or NPOs.

George Baard, a contract social worker at NG Welfare, says there are five different types of charities that a person can choose to support. They are: animals, Bring Hope, children, disability and education.

NG Welfare, which has child protection as its main priority, falls into the Bring Hope group. Some of the other organisations involved are: Meals on Wheels, Child Welfare, SOS Children’s Villages, Epilepsy SA and CANSA.

Last year alone, Tekkie Tax day brought in R6,5 million nationally. This year, the target is even higher.

George said that he got enormous support from all the high, primary and nursery schools in Randfontein last year.

We really appreciate their support and hope to have them on board again in this year’s project.”
